Acupuncture is the antidote to anti medicine. What is anti-medicine? Antibiotics, antacids, antidepressants and anti anxiety medicine are classic examples. It’s the way modern medicine approaches health care. It focuses on suppressing symptoms, but fails to address underlying conditions. Acupuncture, on the other hand, restores health by correcting the root issues responsible for health issues.
Strengths And Weaknesses Of Modern Medicine
The strengths of modern medicine are immense. Surgical procedures save lives every day. Antibiotics transformed our health care system when they were discovered in 1928. Fertility treatments offer women the joys of motherhood. Pain medicines help us manage acute and chronic injuries and illnesses. The list of benefits is long and comprehensive.
However, there are many health conditions that don’t respond well to modern medicine. In many cases, people undergo procedures and take medications that do not improve their health. In fact, sometimes these treatments worsen their condition. Situations like these require a different approach, namely Chinese medicine.
Unfortunately, modern medicine in many situations has become the anti-medicine. Treatments focus on suppressing symptoms in the short term, and require repeated application. Pain medications are a good example. Acute and chronic pain conditions are treated with medications that mask the pain without addressing the cause of the pain. This includes back and neck pain, hip pain, elbow pain and foot pain, to name a few.
Antidote To Anti Medicine – Treating The Root
Acupuncture offers a different approach to anti-medicine. We have treatments that resolve back and neck pain, hip and foot pain. Acupuncture restores normal functioning that yields long term pain relief. Our treatments are different than modern pain medicines, which only provide short-term relief and require repeated application.
For example, many years ago I went to the doctor complaining of pain in the elbow. The condition was diagnosed as tennis elbow. My doctor instructed me to take Ibuprofen three times a day for a month and see if the condition improved. After a month, my pain was still just as bad. Then someone suggested I try acupuncture. After four treatments my elbow pain was completely gone.
Now that I am Chinese medicine practitioner, I understand how the treatment permanently resolved my elbow pain. The same approach works to resolve pain all over the body. At Raleigh Acupuncture we specialize in pain resolution in the same way.
Acupuncture Treats More Than Pain
The same principal holds for a large number of health conditions that don’t respond well to modern medicine. These conditions include autoimmune diseases (Lyme disease, Crohn’s, Hashimoto’s), digestive conditions (IBS, acid reflux, unexplained weight gain, low energy, bloating, stomach pain), and emotional issues (anxiety, depression, high stress, lack of motivation, overthinking, excessive worry).
Modern medicine’s approach to these non-life threatening health conditions is to mask the discomfort and pain. But this approach fails to address the underlying root causes responsible for the conditions. Anti anxiety medication and antidepressants give temporary relief to emotional problems, but they do not address the cause of these emotions. Antacid medications temporarily relieve digestive problems, but again do not fix the underlying problem.
Acupuncture, on the other hand, resolves pain by healing the body at the root level. It is the preferable health care solution for a large number of health issues because it goes beyond temporary relief and also has no negative side effects.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
We have spend years developing our website to describe how acupuncture treats more than one hundred health conditions. There are two ways to explore this information. First, you can highlight your cursor over CONDITIONS WE TREAT in the menu at the top of the page. That reveals six major health categories: Pain, Emotional/Neurological, Digestive, Women’s Health, Men’s Health, Skin Care, Head & Sensory, and Other Conditions.
By clicking on any of these, you will be guided to a page that lists all of the individual conditions in that category. This includes detailed descriptions of how acupuncture treats the condition, as well as videos describing our treatments and patient testimonials. Hopefully these resources can help you learn more about how acupuncture is the antidote to anti medicine.
You can also access these conditions by clicking directly on the CONDITIONS WE TREAT banner. This brings up a page listing all the conditions on one page. Each condition is highlighted, and by clicking on a condition you will be brought to that page.
Case Studies
In addition, we have an extensive library of CASE STUDIES, which can be found under the RESOURCES tab above. They describe actual patients we have treated at Raleigh Acupuncture, categorized by condition. For example, you can read case studies about allergies, fibromyalgia and foot pain. Each week new case studies are added.
Research Studies
Finally, we have another library devoted to acupuncture RESEARCH STUDIES, listed by condition. These are also found under the RESOURCES tab. Some examples include ACID REFLUX ACUPUNCTURE RESEARCH, CARPAL TUNNEL ACUPUNCTURE RESEARCH, and HIVES & URTICARIA ACUPUNCTURE RESEARCH.
Pick The Medicine Best Suited To Resolve Your Health Issue
If I have a heart attack or stroke, I’m heading directly to a modern hospital. I also will get regular colonoscopies now that I am over 50, and will always check my blood work for PSA (prostate) levels. However, if I pull my neck, develop migraine headaches or develop stomach pain, I will get acupuncture. That’s because acupuncture will address the root issue causing my pain and give me long lasting relief.
