Are you tired of having an irregular menstrual cycle? Does your period come too early, too late, or not at all? Is it too heavy, or too light? Do you suffer from painful periods with severe cramping? Acupuncture regulates menstrual cycle by correcting the imbalances in your body. It is a natural way to improve your cycle without the need for medications.
How Acupuncture Works
When you come for your first appointment, we will sit down and talk with you about your menstrual cycle, but also about your general health. It is important for us to understand not only the details about your cycle, but also your sleep patterns, emotional state, digestive and bowel function. We then feel your pulse and look at your tongue. All of this information allows us to create a pattern diagnosis for your condition.
Armed with your Chinese medicine diagnosis, we then create an acupuncture treatment plan to regulate your menstrual cycle. You then receive an acupuncture treatment. This is all done on your first visit. By the time you leave our office that day, your body will already be making changes to enhance your health.
Acupuncture Regulates Menstrual Cycle
There is a reason why certain women have late periods, early periods or no period at all. Likewise, there are reasons why periods are heavy, light or painful. It matters what color the blood is too. Bright red is most desirable, while maroon or purple colored blood indicates stagnation. Clots also point to problems that need to be addressed.
Acupuncture is up for the job. The correct treatment plan will regulate your cycle, ease your pain and return you to optimal health. Each patient is unique, and their treatment will reflect their specific needs. Acupuncture regulates menstrual cycle best.
Menstruation and Infertility
Often, women come to our office for infertility treatment. It is common for them to have trouble with their menstrual cycle. The first thing we do when treating for infertility is to regulate the menstrual cycle. This essential tune-up allows them to get pregnant naturally and quickly.
For example, women struggling with infertility often have heavy periods that last 7 days, with dark maroon colored blood, large clots and painful cramps. This presentation indicates a pattern of Liver Blood Stasis. A course of acupuncture treatments to address this pattern imbalance will result in a 5 day period with bright red blood, no clots and little or no cramping. Once the cycle is corrected, women will typically get pregnant within three months.
Amenorrhea and Acupuncture
Some women simply don’t get their period, or skip periods. Acupuncture treats this condition as well, helping the body heal. The result is to reinstate the period. This is beneficial for overall health, and is essential for women who want to get pregnant. Chinese medicine believes that a regular menstrual cycle is important for women’s health. It allows for proper blood circulation, which is essential for good health.

What our Clients are Saying
I love Raleigh Acupuncture! I went for infertility. I was a mess. My period came every two weeks and was really uncomfortable. I was anemic and the iron supplements were giving me terrible constipation. I also had PCOS. I didn’t even know if I was ovulating. The treatments totally fixed my cycle. After four months I was getting my period every four weeks and my anemia was gone. They taught me how to know when I was ovulating and the “best time” to get pregnant. It worked. I’m three months pregnant right now and very happy. They totally changed my life. Thank you Raleigh Acupuncture!!
Was having alot of trouble getting pregnant. My internet research showed that having an irregular period could be at least partially responsible for my troubles. Found Raleigh Acupuncture through a friend and got treated. After that my period started coming every 30 days — and five months later I got pregnant! I’m convinced acupuncture made the difference. I’m telling everyone who’s having trouble getting pregnant to try acupuncture. What a gift.
I’ve always been irregular with my cycle and it didn’t bother me much. But I got married last year and was starting to think about having a family. I knew that it would be more difficult to get pregnant with my cycle coming at all different times. So I went to Raleigh Acupuncture. They told me it usually took three months to regulate a cycle, and that’s exactly how long it took me. I’m like clockwork now and grateful for it. At the same time my periods are less uncomfortable. I feel relieved that when we start trying to get pregnant I’ll be in a much better place.
I never had painful periods until I moved and started a new job. Very high stress. Every month I started getting migraine headaches and severe cramping. A friend suggested Raleigh Acupuncture and I got treated. It helped three things – reduced my stress, stopped the migraines and totally stopped the painful periods. They were all related and all triggered by my job stress. It was fascinating learning more about my body and how things like work really do take a toll. I’m trying to lead a more balanced life now. I’m continuing acupuncture until I get a less stressful job.
Periods are supposed to be painful, right? Guess what? THIS IS NOT TRUE! Why didn’t I know about acupuncture ten years ago? Do yourself a favor. Check these people out. Don’t be freaked out by the needles. They don’t even hurt. You don’t have to put up with pain every month!!
I suffered from painful periods my entire adult life. They started me on birth control pills as a teenager, and that helped until my mid-twenties. Then they got painful again, like ten out of ten pain with terrible cramping. Luckily my job is flexible, because I would miss two days each month from the pain. I found Raleigh Acupuncture on the internet and liked their website. During the initial visit they explained why my periods were so painful and how Chinese medicine addressed it. It made a lot of sense to me so I tried it. They told me it would take three cycles to regulate my period, but honestly I starting feeling better within a few weeks. I can honestly say that now my periods are not painful at all and my period is “normal”. I am so relieved and grateful. If you have painful periods you need to try acupuncture.
I’ve been going to Raleigh Acupuncture for 4+ years. I first went to them because I was having problems with my monthly period lasting two weeks or more, hot flashes that were extreme, and all over pain from fibromyalgia, which is a chronic pain condition. I was in a state of depression and despair, unable to work, or do things I love to do, like working in my yard. On a good day, I could perform simple household chores, perhaps a little yoga, and that was all. My first few visits brought relief from hot flashes, terrible neck pain, and wrap-around pain in my ribs that restricted my ability to breathe comfortably. I felt this was a miracle as I had suffered for many years, and had no idea it was so easily remedied. This miraculous ride continued as I took Chinese herbs for aiding my menopausal symptoms, sinus problems, anxiety, and general pain. As time went on I began to depend on Raleigh Acupuncture for psychological strengthening as well. Nowhere else have I found anyone that really listens to what I have to say without thinking I was crazy. Today, as I sit and reflect, I am about to graduate from an intense two year program for Landscape Architecture Technology. I took a huge leap when I signed up for full-time classes when I was 50 years old. I have enjoyed great success, making one B in 64 credit hours, the rest were A’s! In February of 2011, I was in a car accident where I was sandwiched between a van and a school bus. I was able to continue school and finish the semester, I believe because of my acupuncture treatments. I contribute most of my academic success, emotional well-being, and diminished pain to Raleigh Acupuncture.
