The Problem
The Mayo Clinic states, “Up to 15 percent of couples are infertile. This means they aren’t able to conceive a child even though they’ve had frequent, unprotected sexual intercourse for a year or longer. In up to half of these couples, male infertility plays a role.”
The Solution
Three issues can impact male fertility – sperm count, motility (how sperm move), and morphology (their shape). Acupuncture can improve all of these issues.
Acupuncture Improves Male Infertility
In Chinese medicine, sexual function, including reproduction, involves the Kidneys. So for patients with low sperm count, we boost Kidney function using specific acupuncture points and Chinese herbs. As a result, sperm count increases. No medications are necessary – acupuncture taps into your body’s healing energy to restore balance and enhance performance. We apply the same principles to improve sperm motility (movement) and morphology (shape).
Acupuncture Improves Sexual Function
All sexual function issues improve with acupuncture. We successfully treat low libido for both men and women, erectile dysfunction for men, and female infertility for women.
Recent Male Infertility Case
A 32-year-old man came to our clinic with a diagnosis of low sperm count. He and his wife had been trying to get pregnant for the past 18 months without success. As part of his wife’s infertility treatment, they asked him to test his sperm. While his morphology and motility were fine, his sperm count was low, approximately 2 million. Normal count levels are 15 to 200 million. He was encouraged to seek out acupuncture for male infertility treatment.
His intake exam revealed a pattern imbalance of Kidney yang deficiency. We treated our patient six times, during which time he also took Chinese herbs to boost kidney yang. His acupuncture treatment included the following acupoints: KD3, KD7, CV4, CV6, and ST36. In addition, we prescribed the herbal formula Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan, which gently nourished kidney yang qi. As a result, his sperm count was over 50 million when he retested the following month.
What To Expect
