A 43 year old woman came to our clinic wanting a natural face lift. She had read about facial rejuvenation with acupuncture and knew we offered the treatment. This facial rejuvenation acupuncture case study describes her experience and the benefits she received from treatment.
What Is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?
Acupuncture restores balance to the body to promote health and healing. As we age, the skin on our face and neck lose their elasticity, tone and vibrancy. Facial rejuvenation is a process of using acupuncture to (1) restore balance to our internal organs to promote good health, and (2) stimulate the production of collagen and elastin on our face to reduce wrinkles, and increase blood flow to the face to enhance tone and color.
The first aspect of treatment involves restoring internal balance (restoring overall health), which reduces stress, improves sleep and boosts metabolism for better energy. This way, when the body is in harmony, the skin health is improved. Secondly, the treatment uses tiny acupuncture needles on the face (for face treatment) and neck (for neck treatment) to improve blood circulation to the local area. This revitalizes the complexion, lifts sagging skin, reduces wrinkles, improves tone and reduces dark spots. The overall process makes you look younger and improves your internal health.
Raleigh Acupuncture’s facial rejuvenation protocol is once a week for twelve weeks. During that time, your face and body experience improved blood circulation, reduced stress, enhanced metabolic activity and a deep sense of well being.
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture Case Study
Our 43 year old patient was anxious to start her facial acupuncture treatment. She was dealing with a great amount of stress in her life. She had gained 15 pounds in the past year, was not sleeping well, and was seeing this hardship play out on her face. There were deep crow’s nests at her eyes, new wrinkles around her mouth and chin, and a lack of sparkle in her eyes.
At her first appointment we explained how the protocol worked. She would come in once a week for an hour. During that time she would receive both body acupuncture and facial acupuncture. Healing of the body, face and mind are essential to improving facial complexion.
Positive Results From The Start
This facial rejuvenation acupuncture case study got off to a quick start. After just three treatments, friends and family were already noticing a change in her appearance. Some asked if she was wearing her hair differently, while others said she looked happier and well rested. Our patient also felt the difference. She was sleeping better, had more energy and was feeling less stress.
After the fourth treatment she got a small bruise on the left side of her face. She called us up after the treatment concerned. We explained that about 5% of the acupuncture points will bruise, but they are harmless and will go away on their own within a few days. She was glad to hear this. The bruise did not hurt and she was able to cover it up with makeup. A few days later is was gone.
By the end of her twelve sessions, our patient’s face looked ten years younger. The deep crow’s feet became much less shallow, so to an untrained eye they were hard to see. The wrinkles around her mouth and chin were much less pronounced. Her skin had a healthy glow and her eyes sparkled again. The treatments had also reduced her stress, improved her sleep and boosted her energy.
How Does Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture Work?
The small needles on the face produce micro-trauma to the dermis (skin). This promotes the body to produce collagen and elastin, which naturally revitalize the face. After a treatment, the patient’s face looks fresh and vibrant.
The body points are selected depending on the patient’s particular needs. People with anxiety will receive points to ease their anxiety. Stressed out patients will have points to reduce their stress. Patients struggling with sleep will receive point combinations to improve sleep. Acupuncture treatment addresses the specific needs of each patient.
How Long Do The Benefits Last?
The benefits from facial rejuvenation last two to five years when proper maintenance is done. Maintenance is simply coming once a month for a single tune-up session.
Why Not Just Get Botox?
Botox injections involve injecting botulism into the body to paralyze the muscles on the face. It is an invasive process, and comes with many risks. A recent study from the University of Wisconsin-Madison has raised fresh doubts about how Botox works in the body. Contrary to notions that it stays put at the injection site, researchers found evidence that the drug was moving between nerve cells, raising the possibility that the same kind of migration could be occurring in humans.
Acupuncture, on the other hand, is a completely natural process with no negative side effects. We do not inject any substances into your body. The needles promote your own body to generate collagen and elastin (natural substances), promoting healing from the inside out.
Botox treatments must be repeated every 3 to 6 months, while Jade Healing Facial Rejuvenation, as described in this facial rejuvenation acupuncture case study, lasts much longer (2 to 5 years with proper maintenance).
Is Facial Acupuncture Safe?
Yes, it is completely safe. Acupuncture is the safest medicine on the planet. There are no side effects from treatment. All the needles are sterile, single-use and hair thin. Practitioners receive special training to learn this unique protocol. At Raleigh Acupuncture all of the practitioners have over 15 years experience, and are nationally board certified and state licensed.
