Our patient had testicle pain in the left testicle that radiated up into his abdomen. The problem was worse when he was laying down and when he ran or played sports. The pain was debilitating and kept him from many of his favorite activities. He had been to his doctor, but nothing helped. A google search brought him to our clinic. He traveled two hours to drive here and was desperate for a solution.
Chinese Medicine Diagnosis
After asking him questions about his condition, looking at his tongue, and feeling his pulse, we established that his pain was due to Qi stagnation in the Liver Channel. Three years ago, at the onset of pain, he had moved to a new house. The process of moving had involved lifted several heavy furniture pieces. During this time, he threw out his back and pulled a muscle in his groin. His back had healed, but the groin injury had never fully recovered and the testicle pain was the primary pain that remained from that time.
Our patient’s pulse was wiry, indicating that his body was retaining stress. His tongue was pink with rough edges, also reflecting the fact that his Qi was stagnant. It was clear that he had Qi stagnation in the Liver Channel. The liver channel passes directly through the testicles. His pain was due to stagnation in the Liver channel. His acupuncture treatments needed to smooth liver function and circulate qi.
Acupuncture Treatment
Our patient’s primary treatment in this testicle pain acupuncture case study included the following bilateral acupoints: LV3, LV5, LV8, GB27, and CV4. Also, we had points to circulate his Qi and Blood: SP10, SP6, and Li4.
Outcome
Our patient’s testicle pain decreased by 40% after the first three treatments. He was amazed at the results. Four treatments later, his pain had diminished another 30%. After a course of 10 treatments, his pain was completely resolved. A six-month check-in revealed that the pain never returned.
