Did you know that in 2020 there was a ninety percent drop in deaths from flu, heart attack, and stroke? Where have all the flu deaths gone? What explains the near elimination of heart attack and stroke deaths? Physicians and health policy experts are trying to figure out what is causing this anomaly.
Is it possible that people are still dying from the flu, heart attacks, and stroke at the same rates but their deaths are instead being attributed to Covid-19 ? Do you know that hospitals get more financial compensation in cases of Covid-19 then any other cause of disease. Can that be a factor that skewed the statistics of reported cause of death?
Information Is Power
In the past, vaccines development took three to five years. That’s because it took that long to make sure there were no adverse side effects. Some negative reactions took a few years to show themselves. In fact, such adverse effects showed up when trying to develop a vaccine for SARS back in the early 2000s. That’s why a SARS vaccine never came to pass. Is there a risk to rolling out the Covid vaccine so quickly?
I recently searched on Google to explore this very question. Surprisingly, the first three pages only displayed articles supporting the vaccine’s safety and efficacy. I had to switch over to another less known search engine to find articles discussing the risks and benefits of rolling out the Covid vaccine so quickly. Is Google screening out information that doesn’t support the vaccine effort? I can’t help but think that would be a manipulation of information that the public relies on to make informed decisions. What do you think?
The Best Way To Stay Safe
Staying safe from Covid-19, the seasonal flu and cold viruses requires that we build up our own body’s defense system to control the virus’ invasion. If our own immune system is strong, these viruses can not do damage to our body. The fact that some people who are carriers but show no symptoms proves this point. These people did not get sick because their body’s immune system fought off the Covid-19 virus.
Did you know that many school teachers never get the flu vaccine and never get the flu? The reason is they have been exposed to so many pathogens at school that their immune system is robust. The seasonal flu does not affect them.
Likewise, people with a robust immune system can be in a room filled with sick people and still not get sick. Their bodies are strong enough to repel bacterial and viral infections. There are many things we can be doing RIGHT NOW to boost our immune system. Things like taking Vitamins C, D, and zinc every day. Things like getting enough sleep, reducing stress, and wearing a mask in public places.
The Dangers of Stress & Anxiety
Our clinic has never seen so many stressed-out, anxious, depressed patients as in the past year. Covid-19 is taxing everyone to the limit. Unfortunately, while reporting the news, the media has instilled a high level of fear in the American population. Is it possible that watching TV broadcasts of Covid-19 news is causing increased fear? Is it possible that this fear, in turn, may be further depleting our health and immune function?
There needs to be a balance between being well informed and living in fear. Might it be helpful to focus more on empowering people with things they can do themselves to stay safe? For example broadcasting news stories of people doing more health-increasing activities like walking more outside, taking time to eat well, sleep more and relax, meditating and spending time with family and friends even just over the internet or phone call. If the news started doing these kinds of positive broadcasts, people’s fears might start decreasing, giving their immune system a chance to build up and fight the virus.
The Challenges of a Vaccine Solution
The Covid-19 virus is complex. It’s so sophisticated that it has already started mutating in order to stay robust. All viruses do that, including colds and the flu. That is why we don’t have a vaccine for colds, the flu vaccine changes every year, and there’s never a guarantee that the flu vaccine will work (it’s typically a 50/50 chance of success).
The Covid vaccines we have today target the known strain of the virus. But what happens when the virus mutates to a new form? Remember, the vaccine has no way to adapt to a new target. This scenario is like playing Whack-A-Mole by waiting to whack a mole at the same spot while the mole is constantly moving to other locations. Sure, we can keep putting out vaccines for each new strain. But it’s an incredibly inefficient way to fight disease.
Remember, our bodies are equipped with a smart and adaptive immune system that is designed to stay one step ahead of ever-changing, smart, mutating viruses. Our immune system continually adjusts to meet the changing nature of viruses and infections.
The best way to stop the mole from popping up in a different hole requires using our brain, not our brawn. What do we know about the mole’s underlying strength? The darn machine is powered by electricity. To stop the mole from coming out, just unplug the machine! Likewise, might it be a smarter strategy to focus on improving our immune system to build it as strong as possible? At the same time we should actively prevent the spread of Covid-19 by using the 3Ws: Wash hands, wear a mask, wait six feet apart.
Empowerment Reduces Stress
The media has done a good job promoting the importance of the 3Ws to reduce the risk of contracting Covid-19. Might we also benefit from the media discussing the benefits of strengthening our immune system as well? The more we can feel empowered, the less stress and anxiety we will feel, which in turn will help boost our immune system.
Reasonable Questions To Ask
Where have all the flu deaths gone? Is the Covid-19 vaccine safe in the long-run? Are we being given accurate information about the impact of Covid-19? All Americans should feel safe to ask these questions. We’ve gotten into the habit of judging people as stupid (or worse) for holding views outside the mainstream. Asking questions often makes people feel uncomfortable, but it’s important to get to the truth. Truth welcomes examination and questioning while non-truth falls apart in the face of deep questioning and thorough examination.
Raleigh Acupuncture’s Covid-19 Safety Protocol
At Raleigh Acupuncture, we continue to take precautions to keep our patients and staff safe, including requiring everyone to wear masks. Patients need to cancel if they show any signs of cold or flu. This protocol has kept all of our patients safe throughout the past year.
Where Have All The Flu Deaths Gone?
I remember singing an anti-war song back in the 1960s titled “Where Have All The Flowers Gone.” The first verse went:
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the flowers gone?
The girls have picked them every one.
Oh, When will you ever learn?
Oh, When will you ever learn?
The song reflects the madness of war and how we never seem to learn from past mistakes. Will the treatment for Covid-19 turn into a more significant problem than the virus itself? Only time will tell. But there is much we can do to fight the virus right now.
What You Can Do
Take action daily to boost your immune system. Get outside into the sun, safely visit with friends and family, and know that your body is equipped with the best defense to viruses and disease.
Don’t feel discouraged by the news or disempowered by what you read. Reduce your fear and stress by doing what you can, rolling up your sleeves and fighting this pandemic one day at a time.
