Acupuncture Stops Pain – How It Works

Acupuncture is the ultimate pain buster. No matter where pain is located, acupuncture by its very nature is designed to resolve pain, bringing long term relief. Read on to learn how acupuncture stops pain.

How can we understand how acupuncture stops pain? First, it’s important to understand where pain comes from. Our bodies are super highways of energy, filled with power lines that crisscross the organs, muscles, joints and tendons of the body. This energy powers the body and allows it to function properly. We call this energy Qi (pronounced Chi) and the pathways are called Channels.

Pain, in Chinese medicine terms, is caused from blockage of this energy. We call energy blockage Qi stagnation. Qi stagnation in the channels is caused by trauma (falls, accidents), overuse (doing the same thing over and over again), disease (from fibromyalgia to diabetes) and emotional stress (from depression to excessive worry).

Multilevel Approach to Resolving Pain

Acupuncture treats pain on two levels. First, it opens blocked channels, enabling the Qi to flow smoothly again. When an acupuncture point is inserted along a blocked channel, the channel has no choice but to reopen. You turn a door knob and the door opens. Points work the same way on channels. Insert the point and the channel opens. You can also think of it like clearing a wreck from the highway, allowing traffic to flow again.

The second way acupuncture resolves pain is to correct root imbalances that exist in the body. For example, let’s say a person’s pain is caused by fibromyalgia. This health condition is caused by a imbalances at the organ level. Acupuncture corrects these imbalances, thereby improving the fibromyalgia condition, leading to reduced pain.

Long Lasting Results

As opposed to pain medications, acupuncture has long term effect. It treats at the root level, restructuring the way the body functions. And it’s completely safe. There are no negative side effects from treatment. It’s the most natural medicine in the world.

What About Safety?

We use only sterile, single-use, hair thin needles. The British Acupuncture Council posted that, “There are very few side effects from acupuncture when practiced by a fully qualified practitioner of traditional acupuncture. Two surveys conducted independently of each other and published in the British Medical Journal in 2001 concluded that the risk of a serious adverse reaction to acupuncture is less than 1 in 10,000. This is far less than many orthodox medical treatments.”(https://www.acupuncture.org.uk/public-content/public-pr-press-statements/research-shows-that-acupuncture-is-safe.html)
