Now that our acupuncture clinic is back open and treating patients, the question arises – Is it safe to come back? It’s a question we have to ask in every aspect of our lives in this post-Covid19 world. The short answer is “Yes,” it is safe to come in for acupuncture. This blog post describes the coronavirus safety procedures we have put in place at Raleigh Acupuncture.
Coronavirus Safety Procedures
The question of safety is paramount for all of us. And the way each of us “stays safe” will be different for each individual and family. My sister, for example, feels comfortable shopping at the supermarket in her mask. On the other hand, my brother is not ready to shop in a store. He has underlying health conditions and is going to wait a while longer before he ventures out.
In our acupuncture clinic, we have adopted several coronavirus safety procedures to ensure our patients’ and staff’s safety. First, we will not treat anyone showing signs of the cold or flu. Patients should stay home if they have a fever, or are showing any symptoms like sneezing or coughing. Since reopening, not a single patient has come to the office showing signs of sickness. We have had many late cancellations from responsible patients reporting the onset of sniffles or a cold at the last minute. Their responsibility is much appreciated. Of course, for the time being, there is no penalty for late cancellations.
Further Measures To Keep You Safe
We ask everyone to wear masks to their appointment. Our staff also wear masks. While the science behind wearing masks is not definitive, we feel it is a good policy to wear them. Furthermore, upon arrival, we ask patients to wash their hands. We have set up our waiting room for social distancing. But, quite frankly, you will not sit in the waiting room for long. Our updated patient scheduling enables you to enter your treatment room quickly.
Staff cleans the treatment rooms between each appointment. Cleaning includes wiping down face cradles, armrests, doorknobs, and bells with Clorox wipes. The bathroom is similarly wiped down continually throughout the day. There is a jar of “clean pens” for new patients when filling out paperwork, and a jar of “dirty pens” when they finish writing. We have even modified our check-out procedure for your safety.
Moving Forward
One of the dangers of the lockdown is that people are forgoing medical care out of fear of getting sick. As healthcare providers, our job is to make sure our facility is safe for everyone, including seniors and people with underlying health conditions. We take that responsibility seriously and are proud of our new coronavirus safety procedures and protocols.
If you have concerns about returning to acupuncture, please give us a call. We will be happy to answer your questions and concerns about coronavirus safety procedures at Raleigh Acupuncture. In the meantime, we send greetings to our patients, and wish you health and happiness in this challenging time.
