Raleigh Acupuncture opened its doors in 2005 and has been a thriving health clinic ever since. Patients come to us with a wide variety of health conditions, and most find relief. For many, we can resolve their issue, whether it be chronic pain, sleep issues, emotional distress, or infertility. With others, we can help relieve their symptoms and improve their quality of life. New patients often ask us, “Does acupuncture work?” to which we answer, “For most, yes. And hopefully for you too.”
Can I Trust Acupuncture?
Some of our patients get referrals from physicians, nurse practitioners, friends, or family. So they have a comfort level that Raleigh Acupuncture will take good care of them. But for most, they find us on the internet, either from an insurance carrier website or a Google search. So how can they trust a clinic to perform a strange medicine invented thousands of years ago? What kind of training do the providers have? Are they doctors? Does acupuncture work?
The practitioners at Raleigh Acupuncture have over 3500 hours of graduate training in acupuncture and Chinese medicine, a program that takes four years to complete. That’s the equivalent training received by dentists and chiropractors. Yet politics had denied us the right to call ourselves “doctors” – until recently. Now, upon completing an additional nine classes, we can hold the title Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. The providers at Raleigh Acupuncture are currently taking these classes!
Four Treatments and Evaluate
We tell new patients to come in four times and then evaluate their progress. If they are not responding, we will refer them out to another modality. However, most patients do respond within this time – which indicates a favorable prognosis and good outcomes.
For example, we recently treated a young woman for severe stomach pain, bloating, and constipation. After her second treatment, she experienced a 20 percent improvement in her condition. This response indicated that she would have an excellent outcome to her acupuncture treatments. Sure enough, after six treatments, she was 80 percent better.
Does Acupuncture Work?
The answer for most of our patients is a resounding Yes. We treat one hundred and forty pain and health conditions – check out our website for details about every condition we treat. If patients respond positively within the first four treatments, their prognosis for success is high. After that, we can reduce their adverse symptoms, and for others, we can completely resolve the pain or condition.
We treat many people for peripheral neuropathy, which is a pain condition affecting the feet. There are few effective Western medical treatments for this condition, but acupuncture works like a charm to reduce pain, burning, and numbness of the feet. Typically after treating patients four to six times, we put them on maintenance – they come in once a month to sustain the benefits of acupuncture.
In other cases, we can resolve the pain for good. Such is the case for many types of neck and back pain, where after just four to six treatments, the pain is gone – no follow-up treatments are necessary.
What To Expect
All needles are sterile, single-use, and hair-thin. Acupuncture is one of the safest forms of medicine on the planet as we do not inject any medication into the body. Instead, acupuncture taps into your body’s healing potential, prompting and motivating your body to heal itself. This ancient medicine is now wholly modernized to meet the most stringent standards of health and professionalism.
When you come in for your first treatment, we assess your health, learn about your condition, and make a Chinese medicine diagnosis that will guide our treatment strategy. You will receive complete treatment on the day of your first visit.
