If you have knee pain, try acupuncture. There is no better way to resolve knee problems. The knee pain acupuncture solution is safe, natural and delivers long-lasting results. This blog post explains the ABC’s of how acupuncture works to resolve knee pain.
The 54-Year-Old Cyclist
We recently treated a fit and healthy 54-year-old man who came to our clinic complaining of knee pain. He was an avid cyclist, riding a sixty-mile loop along greenway trails two to three times a week. His left knee would often “lock up” on him while riding, causing severe, stabbing pain.
His doctor suggested he receive a series of corticosteroid injections into the knee. But our patient didn’t want to go that route just yet. So he did some research on the internet and read about acupuncture relieving knee pain. His first question to us was, “How does it work?”
“Imagine”, we explained, “that there are pathways running up and down your legs, transporting a form of energy called Qi. We call the pathways ‘channels’. They parallel the blood vessels and nerves, but are distinct and separate from them. If the flow of Qi becomes blocked, we feel pain. When channels approach a joint it’s much like a car approaching an intersection. There tends to be more traffic, causing the Qi to get stuck.
The reason is simple. Joints are complicated. Cartilage wears down with use. Ligaments and tendons get inflamed. Acupuncture works by restoring the ‘free flow’ of Qi in the channels, even in tricky places like joints. And when Qi circulation is restored, pain is resolved.”
Talk is cheap, but results speak for themselves. After six sessions, our cyclist’s knee pain was resolved. The knee pain acupuncture solution worked like a charm for him.
Knee Replacement Averted
Many years ago we were treating a 48-year-old man for post-stroke symptoms like urinary dysfunction, insomnia and depression. He was getting tremendous relief from his acupuncture sessions. One day he said, “I know this is a long shot, but does acupuncture do anything for knee pain? I’m scheduled to have both knees replaced next month and the last thing I need right now is surgery. But my knees are killing me.”
We asked him about his knee pain. He had been an avid basketball player, so good that he had considered going pro. But then his knees started acting up, completely sidelining his basketball prospects. They had been hurting him ever since. His doctor told him the cartilage was gone, that his knees were “bone on bone”, and that knee replacement was the only option. We told him otherwise.
So we started treating his knees, seeing how he would respond. After just four treatments his knee pain was 90% better. He could not believe it. Even we were surprised with how quickly he responded! He cancelled his surgery and never looked back. Over the years we’ve given him maintenance treatments on his knees, tune-ups if you like. The pain has never returned. He’s still “bone-on-bone”, but with no pain.
Knee Pain Acupuncture Solution
You owe it to yourself to check out acupuncture if you have knee pain. These are just two cases of the hundreds of patients we’ve helped over the last 15 years. Each case of knee pain is unique. And acupuncture is able to address the majority of them. Take the four-treatment test. Let us treat you once a week for four weeks and then assess your progress. If you start to see improvement within those four weeks, you know acupuncture will get the job done.
Sometimes knee pain can be resolved in as quick as four treatments. Other times it will take longer. Everybody heals at their own pace. Remember, it’s a natural healing process. We meet your body where it is, and support it to heal at its own pace. The beauty is that if you can start healing within those four treatments, then you know you will get better. The body does not start something it cannot finish.
If we treat you four times and get no relief, we’ll stop the treatment. That rarely happens. But there are cases where the knees are so bad that surgery is needed. Other times, a different therapy is needed. The bottom line? There is no downside to trying acupuncture first. It’s much less invasive than surgery, and safer than taking long-term pain medications.

What our Clients are Saying
My knees were so bad with arthritis that I couldn’t play golf. My wife did research on the internet and said acupuncture might help. I went in not expecting much. He told me it would take three to six treatments to see if it would work. My case was tougher because I’m overweight. Sure enough, after five treatments the pain started easing. I needed twelve treatments total, but my knees improved so much I’m playing golf again. I go in for what he calls tune-ups every month, but I don’t mind. The acupuncture keeps my knees not hurting. I’ve recommended it to my golf buddies and they’ve had success as well.
Raleigh Acupuncture was recommended by a friend after I mentioned my insomnia and dependency on a sleeping pill. My apprehension was short lived because of the results of my visits to Dr. Mark. With acupuncture treatments and Chinese herbs I was able to begin sleeping well and continue to do so. Dr. Mark is a good listener and encourages his patients in all health issues as well as the original purpose for treatment. Consequently, my knees are stronger and I’m walking better and with more confidence. I haven’t had the need for a cortisone shot in a year and a half. Occasionally, I would use a cane and it’s now somewhere gathering dust. Also, I had a persistent headache that my primary physician had no solution for, and after two acupuncture treatments it’s a thing of the past. Hot flashes were another issue that was treated successfully. I am so grateful to have found a knowledgeable and caring person to treat my ailments, many of which I thought would only grow worse as I aged. Generally, I feel healthier.

I love to play golf, that’s my passion. But I’m overweight and my knees hurt so bad I couldn’t even walk the course. My wife told me to try acupuncture. These guys were straight with me, said to try six treatments to see if my knees would respond. I’ll tell you, nothing happened at first. But, by the sixth treatment my knees starting feeling better. I got six more treatments after that and now I’m playing golf again. They don’t hurt so much any more. From a 10 out of 10, now they’re at a 3. I can live with that.
My knees were so bad I couldn’t walk down the stairs without holding on to the railing for dear life. I’m also deathly afraid of needles. So they used extra tiny needles on my knees and in three treatments my knee pain was gone. Incredible! I highly recommend Raleigh Acupuncture for anyone with knee pain.
This was my first time trying out acupuncture. I had a great experience and was made to feel very comfortable with the whole process. The treatment I received on my knee definitely helped with my tendinitis. I would recommend Raleigh Acupuncture to anyone.
