Leg Cramps Acupuncture Solution
We treat all types of leg cramps at Raleigh Acupuncture. Calf cramping is the most common dysfunction we see. They come during the night or in the afternoon, causing severe pain. People try home remedies like eating more bananas, homeopathic formulas, and even putting a bar of soap under the sheets. Sometimes these solutions work, and other times they miss the mark.
Acupuncture, however, is a sure-fire way to resolve leg cramps. The treatment works on multiple levels to improve blood circulation in the legs, circulation that nourishes the muscles, helps them heal, and prevents them from cramping in the future. The leg cramps acupuncture solution involves three components: (1) Opening Blocked Channels; (2) Getting Stuck Qi To Move; and (3) Loosening Chronically Tight Muscles.
Acupuncture Opens Blocked Channels
In Chinese medicine, we say that blocked channels cause all pain. Channels (also called meridians) are pathways through the body which allow Qi energy to flow. If a traffic jam occurs on the highway, cars cannot get to their destination. Blocked channels prevent Qi from reaching its destination and accomplishing its purpose – to nourish the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and organs in the body.
Qi is the source of life. It nourishes our organs and allows blood to flow through the body. Without Qi, we have no life. When Qi is stuck (stagnant), there is sickness, pain, and disease. Leg cramps are an imbalance caused by stagnant Qi, and the way to resolve them is to get the Qi moving again in the channels. It’s like clearing a wreck off the road. Needling acupuncture points is the body’s tow truck service.
Acupuncture Moves Stuck Qi
In calf or hamstring cramps, treatment focuses on the Bladder channel, which runs down the back of the leg. The essential acupuncture point for treating hamstring cramps is BL37, while the key point for calf cramps is BL57. It’s important to treat many points along the channel, which opens blocked meridians more effectively than just needling one point. Therefore, effective treatment for calf cramps includes points not only in the calf but also in the hamstring, ankle, and hip.
Leg cramps resolve after restoring proper Qi flow. The leg cramps acupuncture solution is so effective because it treats the root issue underlying the dysfunction. Opening the channels and getting the Qi flowing is the key to resolving leg cramps.
Acupuncture Loosens Chronically Tight Muscles
Acupuncture reopens channels and restores Qi flow, enabling tight muscles to relax. It is a cause and effect reaction. Acupuncture addresses the underlying problem, which is Qi stagnation in the channels. And the pain is naturally resolved. We use the same principle to resolve pain from tight muscles anywhere in the body. It’s all about restoring Qi and Blood circulation, so the muscles and tendons are adequately nourished.
What Causes Blocked Channels?
Stress, working too hard, taxing your body more than you should, and overuse are all typical causes of blocked channels in the body. We push ourselves too hard, don’t get enough sleep and nutrition, and get injured. It happens all the time. It’s a wonder we manage as well as we do, considering the trauma we put our bodies through every day.
Acupuncture is the great restorer – allowing the body to heal, enabling Qi and Blood to circulation well again. This fact is the key to resolving leg cramps and pain anywhere in the body.

What our Clients are Saying
I am a writer and I write the old fashioned way, by hand! A few years ago I started getting severe cramps in my hand. I knew it was from the writing, but didn’t want to change to a computer. So I tried a variety of therapies, none of which worked until I arrived at Raleigh Acupuncture. Their treatment was so good, and they were so awesome, that I’ve made them a part of my life. From hand cramps I moved on to them helping me with insomnia and chronic low back issues. It’s been a great experience!
I had terrible calf and foot cramps and used quinine. But it got so hard to get in the past few years. So I tried acupuncture. Raleigh Acupuncture truly helped. I recommend them for calf and foot cramps.
I’m a semi-professional weight lifter. I never had a problem until my hip went out doing squats. The pain was tremendous, like a sharp nerve pain down the back of my leg into the calf. It had sidelined me for two months while I tried unsuccessfully to work out the pain. Then a buddy suggested acupuncture. He had a similar hip pain and got relief at Raleigh Acupuncture. I went there and got treated. They told me to stop stretching until the injury was healed. I followed their instructions and got half a dozen treatments. The pain started easing after the first few treatments. I continued for another 6 treatments and was totally cured. I was able to get back to lifting with no residual effects of the injury. I’ve recommended this practice to a number of friends since that time and they all have had good experiences.
I have neuropathy that is a burning, tingling pain down my legs and into my feet. The doctor said there was nothing I could do besides pain medicine, since I am diabetic. The meds didn’t help much and made me feel groggy all the time. I tried acupuncture, after seeing a segment on Dr. Oz. I found Raleigh Acupuncture online and liked their website. They had alot of useful information. The treatments were interesting. They used electric acupuncture on my legs and feet that felt like a tingling massage. They said it would take a few treatments to start kicking in, and they were right. The burning pain slowly started to recede, and the tingling went away. I was truly amazed to feel such a difference in my legs and feet. I know so many people with neuropathy, and they are afraid to try acupuncture. I think they are crazy not to try it. What a difference not to be in constant pain anymore. I don’t need medication for my legs.
My doctor told me I had sciatica, but the only place I felt pain was on the side of my calf. It was terrible nerve pain that screamed all day and all night. I couldn’t exercise and it affected my sleep. I had to take pain killers every night just to fall asleep. I tried massage and physical therapy, but it didn’t help. So I tried acupuncture. They agreed with my doctor that it was sciatica. They treated my hip as well as my leg. And sure enough, the pain started easing after just one treatment. After 5 treatments it was gone. I don’t understand how treating the hip helped my leg pain, but it did. Thank you Raleigh Acupuncture!
