Acupuncture cancer treatment support provides high-quality acupuncture before, during, and after chemotherapy, radiation, and surgical procedures. Treatments promote healing, reduce stress, and boost the immune system.
Types of Cancer Supported
Our patients undergo many different cancer treatments, including breast cancer, ovarian cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, liver cancer, leukemia, colorectal cancer, kidney (renal) cancer, bladder cancer, and Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. They arrive at our clinic at all stages of care.
They seek support and relief – support with their daily functioning and relief from pain and discomfort. Acupuncture delivers powerful relief for symptoms including nausea, pain, fatigue, hot flashes, depression, anxiety, insomnia, migraines, sinus pressure, cognitive issues, and motor skills.
How Acupuncture Supports Cancer Treatment
The following is an example of acupuncture cancer treatment support. One recent breast cancer patient was struggling with hot flashes and night sweats. Post-surgery she was prescribed tamoxifen, a medication to prevent cancer recurrence. However, it triggered severe heat symptoms. Acupuncture effectively resolves hot flashes and night sweats in menopausal women, and it has the same beneficial effect for patients taking tamoxifen.
That’s because acupuncture restores balance. For example, in menopausal women, a hormone change causes heat symptoms. Acupuncture helps the body adjust to the new hormone levels. Once the body has adjusted, the hot flashes and night sweats naturally resolve.
A similar process occurs when medications trigger an imbalance in the body. For example, tamoxifen decreases estrogen and progesterone levels in the bloodstream, reducing breast cancer recurrence. But as a result, it triggers menopause-like symptoms, including night sweats. Acupuncture helps the body adjust to the medication-induced imbalances, resolving the unwanted symptoms in the process.
Chemo Induced Nausea
Another example of acupuncture cancer treatment support involves reducing nausea after chemotherapy. Acupuncture is highly effective at reducing nausea, no matter the cause. For instance, we help pregnant women overcome morning sickness in the first trimester of pregnancy. Acupuncture also helps people with nausea-associated migraine headaches and irritable bowel syndrome.
Likewise, acupuncture benefits cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy with their nausea. The principle of treatment is the same for all nausea situations. Chinese medicine recognizes nausea as rebellious stomach qi (energy). Stomach energy is supposed to travel downward, following the digestive tract. However, specific imbalances interfere with the stomach’s natural trajectory, causing it to rebel upwards. When it does, nausea occurs.
Acupuncture harmonizes the stomach, helping to restore its natural descending function – which resolves nausea. The treatment is as elegant as it is simple. If more people knew how great acupuncture was at resolving nausea, there would be less need for nausea medications.
Radiation Relief
Acupuncture cancer treatment support helps ease the pain and discomfort of radiation, which can often cause redness, burning, and damaged skin. In this case, acupuncture clears toxic heat from the skin and increases blood circulation to damaged skin, speeding up recovery to the distressed areas. In addition, treatments are safe and completely natural, with no side effects.
Emotional Support from Acupuncture
Acupuncture cancer treatment support also works on the emotional level. It is a fantastic emotion booster, naturally reducing stress, lifting depression, and easing anxiety. Every emotional condition has a different root cause, and acupuncture addresses each one, specifically targeting the problem.
For example, anxiety is typically a heart issue – acupuncture eases anxiety by nourishing the heart qi. On the other hand, liver qi stagnation is the root cause of stress and mild depression. Acupuncture is a powerful natural remedy for getting stuck qi to move freely again. Increasing qi circulation with acupuncture eases stress and mild depression better than any prescription medication. It would help if you experienced it yourself to understand the power and effectiveness of this treatment.
