Many Types of Wrist Pain
We treat many different types of wrist pain at Raleigh Acupuncture. There’s carpal tunnel syndrome, which is pain on the palm-side of the wrist and hand, most often accompanied with numbness in the first three fingers. Many patients present with tendinitis of the thumb, which starts at the wrist and works its way down to the thumb. Then there’s arthritis pain in the wrist itself – the wrist has eight small bones that often get arthritis. No matter the source, acupuncture works like a charm on all types of wrist pain.
Wrist Pain Acupuncture Case Study
Our 37-year-old patient was a construction worker who had injured his wrist on the job. His pain presented on both the palmar and dorsal sides of his wrist, leading down into his fingers and radiating all the way up his forearm. Upon examination we realized that his treatment would have to address both carpal tunnel and tendinitis.
Laying comfortably on his back, we first inserted our four magic points for carpal tunnel treatment. These four points quickly resolve carpal tunnel syndrome more effectively than surgery, at a fraction of the cost and risk, with zero recovery time. We have treated over a thousand patients for carpal tunnel treatment over the years with more than a 95 percent success rate.
In addition to his carpal wrist pain, he also had thumb tendinitis radiating up his forearm. For this aspect of his injury we added three additional points – one at his shoulder, another at his elbow and a third at his thumb. Both the carpal and tendinitis points included electrostimulation from an electroacupuncture device. His treatment lasted for approximately 30 minutes and was repeated once a week for four weeks.

After his first treatment he felt more than 30 percent better. With each treatment he continued to improve, until he was 100 percent better following the fourth session. The pain never returned.
