Latest Allergy Research
In a study published in the journal “Annals of Internal Medicine,” researchers examined 422 people who tested positive for pollen allergies and had allergic nasal symptoms such as a runny nose, watery and itchy eyes, and sneezing. The participants reported their symptoms and what medication and doses they used to treat them.
The researchers then divided the participants into three groups; one received 12 acupuncture treatments and took antihistamines as needed. A second group received 12 fake acupuncture treatments (needles placed at random, non-meaningful points in the body) and took antihistamines as needed. In contrast, the final group only took antihistamines for symptoms.
After two months of treatments, the researchers asked patients about their symptoms and how much medication they used. The participants who received the authentic acupuncture treatments with antihistamines showed reduced allergy symptoms than the other groups.
The study author wrote, “From my experience as an acupuncturist and researcher, I would recommend acupuncture for patients who are not satisfied with conventional allergy medications and treatment, or if they suffer from the sides effects of conventional medication.”
How Acupuncture Works
A Chinese medicine exam evaluates every patient coming for the Raleigh Acupuncture allergy treatment. First, we will review your history, symptoms, current medications, and goals for treatment. Next, we will begin treatment by addressing your symptoms (runny nose, itchy eyes, etc.) as well as the root causes of your allergies.
Addressing these root issues makes Chinese medicine and acupuncture superior to other forms of treatment for allergies. We can help you acquire lasting change by addressing the root cause of your allergies.
What To Expect
The Raleigh Acupuncture allergy treatment is relaxing and rejuvenating. All of our needles are sterile, single-use, and hair-thin. Many of our patients get so relaxed during their treatment that they fall asleep on the table. If Chinese herbs are appropriate, we suggest you take them along with the acupuncture. Chinese herbs have no adverse side effects.

What our Clients are Saying
My allergies got very bad ever since I moved to Raleigh. I don’t like how the medicines make me feel. So I tried acupuncture. The effect was excellent. My allergies got 90% better. I also like the Chinese pills. I take them with me when I travel. They’re not kidding about relaxing treatments. I fall asleep every time I got a session.
My wife made me try acupuncture because she was sick and tired of me complaining about my allergies every summer. Pine pollen made my nose run like a faucet. The pills from the doctor didn’t work so I figured it was worth a try. What a difference the acupuncture made. If you are allergic to pine pollen you’ve got to try this stuff. My staff at Raleigh Acupuncture even put up with my sense of humor. You can’t beat that.
Acupuncture really helped my seasonal allergies. I’m grateful to Raleigh Acupuncture for helping me. Every year from spring through the fall I had terrible allergies. Now after their treatment I hardly have them at all. Thank you!
