Acupuncture Relieves Nerve Pain
The principle of the Raleigh Acupuncture nerve pain treatment is simple but powerful. Fourteen channels run throughout the body. When these channels are blocked, pain occurs. This pain can be achy, stabbing, burning, or tingling. Regardless of the type of pain, it will diminish or resolve when the channel reopens.
Peripheral Neuropathy
Patients with diabetes are susceptible to neuropathy. So are patients who have undergone chemotherapy. However, neuropathy can develop in anyone. Acupuncture works wonders to reduce the burning and tingling pain associated with neuropathy. Most neuropathy starts in the feet and progresses up the legs over time. The sooner you start acupuncture, the easier it will be to reverse the effects of neuropathy.
Peripheral neuropathy is an unfortunate side effect of certain chemotherapy medications causing tingling, burning, and numbness in the toes and feet. Acupuncture is one of the few treatments to relieve chemo-induced neuropathy.
Trigeminal Neuralgia
This condition is one of the worst pains a person can have. It affects the face as a shooting, sharp nerve pain that lasts from a few seconds to a few minutes. Patients describe the pain from trigeminal neuralgia as one of the worst imaginable.
Acupuncture relieves trigeminal neuralgia by quieting the nerves in the face. Unfortunately, western medical options, including laser surgery and nerve ablation, are costly, with potentially severe adverse side effects. Therefore, acupuncture is an excellent first line of treatment for trigeminal neuralgia.
Sciatica
Sciatic nerve pain is triggered when a muscle or bulging disc presses up against the sciatic nerve, causing searing pain down the hip, leg, and foot. Acupuncture effectively relieves sciatica (a.k.a. piriformis syndrome). If a tight muscle is pressing against the nerve, acupuncture releases the muscle spasm. The piriformis is the most common culprit in causing sciatica. And acupuncture is the best treatment for piriformis syndrome.
If a bulging disc is pressing on the nerve, acupuncture helps the body reabsorb the bulge. Acupuncture treatment at the “Huato” points can significantly speed up this process. When the body reabsorbs the bulging disc, the nerve is relieved, and pain resolves.
Pinched Nerves
A pinched nerve is similar to the sciatic nerve problem described above. In the case of pinched nerves, the most common area affected is the NECK. A pinched nerve in the neck will induce pain to radiate down the shoulder, into the arm, hand, and fingers. The treatment principle is similar to sciatica – identify what is pressing against the nerve and resolve the compression.
Nerve Pain Treatment That Works
Many conditions can trigger nerve pain. This article has mentioned just a few. Therefore, when a patient comes to our office suffering from pain, our first task is to identify and correctly diagnose the type and source of the pain. We then create a treatment plan to alleviate the discomfort.
All needles are sterile, single-use, and hair-thin. There are no adverse side effects from acupuncture. And as opposed to pain medications, which mask symptoms, acupuncture always seeks to resolve the root condition.
Recent Nerve Pain Case
A 72-year-old man came to our clinic complaining of chronic nerve pain in his left torso. He had shingles three years previous, followed by constant nerve pain where the rash had been. His doctor called it post-herpetic neuralgia and prescribed Gabapentin, which he took 600 mg three times a day for the last three years. However, the pain was still severe enough to disturb his daily life and sleep.
The Raleigh Acupuncture nerve pain treatment excels at treating residual nerve pain from shingles. After the first session, his pain levels decreased by 20 percent. He was amazed at the results. Four treatments later, his pain was gone – he could not believe that a handful of acupuncture treatments resolved three years of constant pain. So he threw away his pain medications and started living his life again.

What our Clients are Saying
For the past 13 years I suffered from peripheral neuropathy in my calf, ankle and foot. I tried numerous medications, therapy with lights, neuromuscular massages and back decompression. I felt like I had stones under the ball of my foot. After the first couple of sessions with Dr. Mark, feelings returned to my calf, ankle and the “stone like feeling” under the ball of my foot began subsiding. Thanks to Dr. Mark, I am able now to walk without pain and discomfort. The extraordinary care and attentiveness I am receiving from Raleigh Acupuncture in treating my neuropathy is remarkable and I recommend them without reserve!
I’m a semi-professional weight lifter. I never had a problem until my hip went out doing squats. The pain was tremendous, like a sharp nerve pain down the back of my leg into the calf. It had sidelined me for two months while I tried unsuccessfully to work out the pain. Then a buddy suggested acupuncture. He had a similar hip pain and got relief at Raleigh Acupuncture. I went there and got treated. They told me to stop stretching until the injury was healed. I followed their instructions and got half a dozen treatments. The pain started easing after the first few treatments. I continued for another 6 treatments and was totally cured. I was able to get back to lifting with no residual effects of the injury. I’ve recommended this practice to a number of friends since that time and they all have had good experiences.
I have neuropathy that is a burning, tingling pain down my legs and into my feet. The doctor said there was nothing I could do besides pain medicine, since I am diabetic. The meds didn’t help much and made me feel groggy all the time. I tried acupuncture, after seeing a segment on Dr. Oz. I found Raleigh Acupuncture online and liked their website. They had a lot of useful information. The treatments were interesting. They used electric acupuncture on my legs and feet that felt like a tingling massage. They said it
would take a few treatments to start kicking in, and they were right. The burning pain slowly started to recede, and the tingling went away. I was truly amazed to feel such a difference in my legs and feet. I know so many people with neuropathy, and they are afraid to try acupuncture. I think they are crazy not to try it. What a difference not to be in constant pain anymore. I don’t need medication for my legs.
I woke up one morning and started getting these excruciatingly painful shooting electric pains on the left side of my face. My wife took me to the emergency room and they said I had trigeminal neuralgia. They gave me some pain medicine, but a nurse there suggested I try acupuncture. She had this pain once and it was cured by acupuncture. She gave me the name of Raleigh Acupuncture. When I explained the situation they took me in the same day. After just one treatment I started feeling better. They saw me every day for six days, at which point the pain was completely gone. What a life saver. I strongly recommend getting acupuncture for trigeminal neuralgia.
