Is Acupuncture Right For You?
Did you wake up with a kink in your neck this morning? Maybe your neck has been hurting since that touch football game last month. Or is your neck pain chronic, stemming from a car accident many years ago? Whatever the cause and however long you’ve had it, acupuncture can help relieve your neck pain.
Acupuncture Relieves Neck Pain
Neck pain can develop from tight muscles, strained tendons, and blocked channels (a.k.a. meridians):
- We release muscle spasms by needling trigger points. In addition, treatments rejuvenate chronically tight and damaged muscles, restoring them to normal function.
- Acupuncture heals the tendon-muscle connection, where inflammation and micro-tears cause pain. The tiny needles increase blood circulation in the affected area, allowing “difficult-to-reach” area the opportunity to heal.
- Treatments open blocked channels, restoring Qi circulation. Healthy muscles need adequate qi and blood circulation. Fourteen meridians run through the body, six of which traverse the neck. Injury, overuse, lack of use, or disease can block channels.
Acupuncture utilizes a multi-pronged approach to address neck pain, treating muscles, tendons, and meridians together. It’s like combining massage, chiropractic, physical therapy, and dry needling, delivering powerful pain relief.
Acupuncture is Safe
All needles are sterile, single-use, and hair-thin. You will feel a deep sense of relaxation, even more relaxing than a massage. Many of our patients fall asleep on the table. At the end of the session, your neck will feel much better.
Recent Neck Pain Acupuncture Case
A 24-year-old man came to our clinic complaining of acute neck pain from a sporting injury. The pain was on his right side and radiated down his shoulder blade and arm, causing tingling in his fingers. An intake exam revealed a blockage in the Small Intestine and Triple Warmer channels. In addition, his trapezius and subscapularis muscles were in spasm.
His first treatment included the acupoints GB20, Bailao, GB21, TW15, SI13, SI12, SI10, and TW10. We also added cupping at the end of his session to promote blood circulation. When he returned the following week, his pain had decreased 40 percent. He was entirely better following his third treatment.
Acute neck pain typically resolves quickly, especially for young people. They have more abundant qi and blood, so their bodies heal faster. But no matter your age, acupuncture can help relieve acute and chronic neck pain.

What our Clients are Saying
I’m a dentist and over the last 20 years the nature of my work and positions required by my work had resulted in chronic neck pain. It affected my sleep, limited my ability to exercise, and was just a real pain in the neck! A friend at church recommended Raleigh Acupuncture and I gave it a try. I have to say that I was a bit skeptical, but gave it a try because I had tried a number other therapies with no success. I’m glad I did. They resolved my neck pain completely!
Very professional and really clear on what needed to be addressed. I made great progress. My neck pain was resolved in three treatments! Wonderful to find them.
Raleigh Acupuncture resolved my neck pain in six treatments! It was so bad I was taking prescription pain medications three times a day for a month. When that started upsetting my stomach I knew I had to find another solution. I thought I was afraid of needles, but after one treatment I saw how relaxing it was. I fell asleep during most of the treatments!
